Very excited to announce The newly formed Bury St Edmunds Dementia Action Alliance are holding their first FREE family carers conference on Wednesday 17th May 2017.
The Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) brings together regional and local members to improve the lives of people with dementia in their area. The Bury St Edmunds DAA is holding it’s first FREE to attend, dementia conference during Dementia Awareness Week (15th – 19th May).
Bury St Edmunds is the principal town of St Edmundsbury District in western Suffolk with a population of some 41,800, of whom more than 8,700 are 65+.
The number of people estimated to have dementia in Bury St Edmunds in 2016 was over 940. This is expected to rise by 41% to over 1,330 in 2025.
570 people registered with a GP practice in Bury St Edmunds had a recorded dementia diagnosis in 2015. This suggests around 60% of people with dementia have had a diagnosis recorded (compared to 44% in the UK) See the aims of the Bury St Edmunds DAA here
The inspirational Chris Roberts and his wife Jayne Goodrick will be guest speakers at the conference. Very honoured they are giving their time up during Dementia Awareness Week (very busy week for them both) to come and talk for us. Living with Dementia: Chris’s story
There will be information and advice from a wide selection of health, care and legal professionals to help individuals through the maze of support services for people living with Dementia and their carers. If you are a family carer, friend or relative and would like to find out more, this is the event for you.
Professional carers will also benefit from attending the days conference. Hearing the speakers in the morning and the workshops in the afternoon will enhance your knowledge on communication skills, future care wishes and legal and financial information.
The venue for this event is the very beautiful Nowton Court Village in Bury St Edmunds, IP29 5LU. Click the information link below for more information. Lunch is provided and FREE.
Booking is essential via email@example.com
Look forward to meeting you all.
Best wishes, Lorraine and Maggie
